Purchase of a program license for one or more of HALCO's applications is appropriate when the company plans to conduct ongoing analysis of harvest planning, log supply, mill production, or sawmill design questions.  However, successful use of these programs typically requires that a skilled analyst be available, with sufficient time available for learning and applying the software.  As an alternative, for many companies it is more efficient to hire HALCO to provide analytical services on a consulting basis. This is particularly true if the required services are of a "one-off" nature, such as during planning for a significant sawmill modification project.
